Every
Two Years Seventh-day Adventists Have "GO!" - a Mission Conference.
There
you can rub shoulders with many Adventist young people and mission agencies
who are excited about reaching the lost. Call (616) 471-3295 for more information.
You can link up with mission agencies to help you GO!
You
Can Also:
Visit an evangelical mission conference to see what's being
done in other churches. For information about dates see www.acmc.org
and www.globalmission.org
under Global Calendar of Events.
Host your own conference. Try the following:
- Invite missionaries to speak.
- Contact the Institute of World Missions for information regarding
mission agencies, available speakers for missions and other
information on planning a conference. Phone: (616) 471-2522
or iwm@andrews.edu.
- Use international music and music on missions.
- Serve international food, decorating various tables according
to the country of origin.
- Show quality videos that highlight both the needs and the
joy of mission service.
- Invite mission agencies to have a booth in the lobby or at
least obtain their literature to show opportunities to get involved
such as mission trips, one-year calls and career service positions.
- Have an action plan for further mission work and invite
those who attend to join.
- Refer people to this site (www.missionactionguide.com),
inviting them to commit to certain parts of it.
- Advertise well and invite other churches in the area,
so they can catch the vision.
The
Children's Part of a Mission Conference
Children love missions. Through stories, songs and activities their
hearts can be captured for reaching the world at an early age.
Many unreached countries have more than half of their population
under the age of 15! We need children reaching children!
- Plan a special program using the ideas in Children's
Sabbath schools.
- For mission games, check out www.mti.org.
- Include an activity like writing to missionaries' children.
- Turn the classroom into an airplane and land at various
countries.
- Have a World Series Baseball focus and make "baseball"
prayer cards with pictures of missionaries.
