The Bible clearly shows how God feels about you.
He gave His Son to die so that He could spend eternity with you.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have
everlasting life." John 3:16
Have you taken hold of that love? Put your name in
the promise and claim it as your own!
"For God so loved _____________ that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever (me!) believeth in Him, should not perish but
have everlasting life." John 3:16
Maybe you don't feel that close connection and
assurance of salvation. Perhaps some sin still stands in the way.
He promises that "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
1 John 1:9
Now put your name in the promise and claim it as your
own: "If _______________ confesses his sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive _______________ his sins and to cleanse _______________
from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
If we put these two texts together it's this
simple:
God's Grace @ The Cross +
Faith & Confession = Forgiveness & A New Heart
Do you have the assurance of eternal life? Do you
know you're forgiven and are new in Christ?
If not, which part is missing above? It's surely
not God's grace or the complete gift at the cross. If you don't
feel sincere or are afraid you lack faith, remember, a heart that's
sorry and even faith comes from God. "Him (Jesus) God has exalted
to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to
Israel and forgiveness of sins." Acts 5:31 Believe it's
yours!
One major block to receiving God's forgiveness
is a lack of forgiving others or forgiving yourself. A lack of victory
can also bring discouragement and doubt. Try the following prayer
to break fully into God's salvation.
A Prayer for Receiving Forgiveness
Dear Father in Heaven,
I confess my specific sin of ______________________________________________.
I ask You to forgive me for this sin. I thank You for forgiving
me and I receive Your forgiveness! Because You have graciously forgiven
me, I choose to forgive those who have hurt me or have helped lead
me into this sin, specifically I forgive ____________________________________________________.
Because You, my Savior, forgave me, I choose to forgive myself for
this sin and the pain it has caused myself and others. I reject
this sin and its results. I break its power on my life and those
I've influenced, through Jesus' redemption on the cross. I receive
God's freedom from this sin and its results. In place of my sin,
I receive the opposite good characteristic ___________________,
and anything else God chooses to give me such as ___________________________.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
For Excellent Prayers and Promises, read Psalm 32,
51 and Isaiah 61.
